Flawless ceilings that transform the feel of every room, painted by Sydney’s trusted professionals.
Ceilings are the most unforgiving surface in your home, every imperfection, roller mark, and uneven patch is exposed by natural light. That’s why getting them right matters, and why so many Sydney homeowners choose Dupaint for the job.
Led by founder Maz Nassimi, Dupaint has been delivering premium painting results across Sydney since 1998. Every ceiling we paint is backed by a 5-year workmanship warranty, full $20M public liability insurance, and the quality assurance that comes with being a Dulux Accredited painting company. We’re also proud members of Master Painters Australia and the Housing Industry Association (HIA).
Over time, ceilings yellow from cooking fumes, cigarette smoke, dust, and general ageing. A full ceiling repaint restores that crisp, bright finish that makes your entire room feel larger and more inviting. We use premium Dulux and Taubmans ceiling-specific paints formulated for superior coverage and a uniform flat finish that minimises imperfections.
For most residential ceilings, we recommend a quality flat or ultra-flat finish, these absorb light rather than reflecting it, which hides minor surface irregularities. In wet areas like bathrooms and laundries, we use moisture-resistant ceiling paints that prevent mould and peeling.
Water stains are one of the most common ceiling problems in Sydney homes, especially after heavy rain or plumbing leaks. Simply painting over a water stain without proper preparation will see it bleed through within weeks. Our process involves identifying and confirming the source has been resolved, applying a specialist stain-blocking primer (such as Zinsser BIN or Dulux Precision), then finishing with two coats of ceiling paint for a seamless result.
If the water damage has caused plaster deterioration, bubbling, or flaking, we repair and re-skim the affected area before painting, so you’re left with a surface that looks and performs as good as new.
Bathroom ceilings cop more moisture and heat than any other ceiling in your home. Without the right paint and preparation, you’ll see peeling, bubbling, and mould growth within months. We use purpose-built bathroom ceiling paints with anti-mould properties, applied over moisture-resistant primers. The result is a ceiling that stays clean and intact, even in bathrooms without exhaust fans or with poor ventilation, which is common in older Sydney apartments.
This service is particularly popular alongside our kitchen painting work, where grease and steam create similar challenges.
Not every ceiling needs to be plain white. We offer a range of textured and decorative ceiling finishes, including sand finishes, stipple textures, and smooth skim coats over existing textured surfaces. If you’re renovating and want to remove an old popcorn or stipple ceiling, we can skim-coat the surface to a smooth, modern finish before painting.
For statement ceilings, a growing trend in Sydney interiors, we can also paint ceilings in feature colours or coordinate them with your feature walls for a cohesive design.
Knowing what to expect makes the whole experience easier. Here’s how a typical ceiling painting project works with Dupaint:
Ceiling painting costs depend on the size of the area, the condition of the existing surface, ceiling height, and the number of coats required. As a general guide for Sydney:
Standard ceiling repaint (good condition, standard height): $12–$18 per square metre. A typical 3-bedroom home with approximately 90–110m² of ceiling area would generally fall in the range of $1,100–$2,000 for ceilings only.
Ceiling with repairs needed (cracks, water damage, stain blocking): $18–$28 per square metre, depending on the extent of preparation required.
High or difficult-access ceilings: Pricing varies based on height and access requirements. Scaffolding or elevated work platform hire adds to the cost.
Bathroom and wet area ceilings: Slightly higher per square metre due to specialist paint products and additional preparation.
In most cases, yes. Priming ensures better adhesion, blocks stains from bleeding through, and gives you a more uniform finish colour. It’s especially critical over water stains, smoke damage, and new plaster.
Always ceilings first. This allows you to cut in cleanly at the wall-ceiling junction without worrying about drips on freshly painted walls. We cover this in detail in our blog post on the correct order to paint a room.
