Premium interior painters for Sydney houses, apartments and commercial spaces, backed by 25+ years of hands-on experience.
Your interior says more about your home than any other surface. Scuffed hallways, faded feature walls, yellowing ceilings, they drag the whole space down. Dupaint is a Sydney painting company with interior crews working across the city six days a week, repainting everything from single-bedroom Bondi apartments to five-bedroom homes in Castle Hill. Every project is led by our director Maz Nassimi, who conducts a personal walk-through before we hand back your keys.

Dupaint holds every credential that matters in the Sydney painting industry. We are Dulux Accredited, which means the manufacturers themselves have vetted our application techniques and stand behind our work. We are members of Master Painters Australia and the Housing Industry Association (HIA).
Our painting and decorating contractor licence (278000C, verifiable through Service NSW) and $20 million public liability insurance (Policy BP2768149) cover every project we take on, residential, commercial and strata.
We use premium paints from Dulux. No budget substitutions, no thinning. Dulux are chosen for Sydney’s climate, high humidity, UV exposure and salt air all affect how paint adheres and how long it lasts.
Our interior painting teams handle every indoor surface in residential and commercial properties across Sydney. The surfaces we repaint most frequently include:
Painting an apartment is different from painting a house. Access is restricted, noise travels, and strata rules add a layer of coordination that most painters don’t plan for. Our crews paint apartments across Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, Inner West and North Shore every week, from studio units to large three-bedroom apartments in high-rise buildings.
We handle the strata logistics that slow other painters down: booking lifts for materials, protecting common area carpets and walls during transit, coordinating access with building managers, and scheduling work within the hours your body corporate permits. If your building requires a strata painting approval or insurance certificate before work begins, we provide everything the building manager needs.
For investors refreshing a rental property between tenants, we offer a fast-turnaround service, most two-bedroom apartments are completed within three to four days. We know what colour schemes appeal to Sydney tenants and can advise on finishes that maximise durability between lease cycles. Find out how much it costs to paint a Sydney property.
Choosing the right finish is crucial for both aesthetics and longevity. Our painters are skilled at applying a range of interior paint finishes to ensure your Sydney home gets the look you are after:

Best Applications:
Painters Tip: Perfect for heritage homes in Paddington and Woollahra where you want to maintain period authenticity without shine.
Appearance: Subtle, soft lustre reminiscent of an eggshell – not quite matte, not quite glossy

Painters Tip: Perfect for creating dramatic contrast in contemporary Darlinghurst lofts or adding glamour to Art Deco details in Potts Point apartments.
Sydney has one of Australia’s richest collections of Federation, Victorian and Art Deco homes, and each era has its own paint requirements. Federation fretwork and verandah posts need flexible exterior-grade coatings applied over careful timber preparation. Victorian-era plaster walls often have lime render that reacts poorly to modern acrylic paints without the right sealer. Art Deco detailing, stepped cornices, curved walls, chrome-edged trims, demands steady brush work and an understanding of period colour palettes.
We work regularly in heritage-heavy suburbs including Paddington, Woollahra, Annandale, Glebe and Stanmore. If your property is heritage-listed, we can work with your heritage consultant and council requirements on colour schemes and paint specifications.
Offices, retail spaces, hotels and restaurants all need interior painting handled differently from residential work. Scheduling around business hours, using low-VOC coatings in occupied workspaces, and coordinating with fitout contractors are standard requirements on our commercial painting projects. We have painted the InterContinental Hotel in Double Bay and completed fitouts for Anytime Fitness and Orange Theory Fitness locations through Beyond Building Solutions. For commercial interior work, here is what to look for when hiring a commercial painter.
Maz or a senior painter visits your property, measures every room, discusses your colour preferences and provides a written quote. We bring Dulux and Taubmans colour charts and can advise on how Sydney’s natural light — which shifts dramatically between north-facing and south-facing rooms — affects how a colour looks once it is on your walls. If you prefer to supply your own paint, we can point you to the best paint shops in Sydney.
Every surface is washed, sanded, filled and primed before any topcoat goes on. Cracks get raked out and filled with flexible filler. Peeling paint is scraped and sanded back to a sound edge. Mould-affected areas in bathrooms and laundries are treated with a fungicidal wash before priming. This stage takes time, and we don’t rush it — preparation determines how long your paint job lasts. Read more about how to prepare your home for painting.
We lay canvas drop sheets over every floor, tape off edges, and cover all furniture, fittings and fixtures. Your home stays liveable throughout the project, we work room by room so you always have access to living spaces.
Walls get a minimum of two full coats, ceilings get two coats, and all trim, doors and architraves receive two to three coats depending on the finish. We use brushes for cutting in and rollers for wall coverage, or spray application for cabinetry and large commercial surfaces. Understanding paint drying times between coats is critical to achieving a durable finish, and we factor drying conditions into every project schedule.
Maz inspects every completed room before handover. We clean up completely, removing all masking tape, drop sheets and paint waste, and walk you through the finished work. You receive written care instructions and your 5-year warranty documentation.
Interior painting costs depend on the size of the job, the condition of the surfaces and the number of coats required. As a rough guide for Sydney in 2026:
Studio or 1-bedroom apartment: From $2,000–$3,500
2-bedroom apartment or unit: From $3,500–$5,500
3-bedroom house (interior only): From $5,500–$9,000
4–5 bedroom house (interior only): From $9,000–$15,000+
These ranges assume standard preparation and two coats on walls and ceilings. Extensive crack repair, mould treatment, wallpaper removal or specialty finishes will add to the cost. For a detailed breakdown, see our full Sydney house painting cost guide.
Every Dupaint quote is fixed-price, written and itemised, no surprises, no hourly charges that blow out. Colour consultation is included free on every project.
For a standard repaint with preparation, allow 2–3 days for a one-bedroom apartment, 3–4 days for a two-bedroom unit, 5–7 days for a three-bedroom house and 7–14 days for larger homes. Paint drying times between coats affect the overall timeline — in Sydney’s humid summer months, we allow extra drying time to prevent peeling and adhesion failures.
Yes. We paint room by room so you always have living spaces available. We use low-VOC paints from Dulux and Taubmans as standard, which produce minimal odour. Most families stay home throughout the project without issues. For more on paint safety, see our guide on whether interior paint is toxic.
