Nestled in Sydney’s prestigious Lower North Shore, Cammeray (2062) offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, historical significance, and modern convenience. Home to approximately 6,784 residents, this charming suburb displays a diverse demographic with 52.6% females and 47.4% males, with a median age of 37.
Cammeray’s development was initially slow due to its steep topography and distance from transport, with much of the area remaining rural with bushland, dairies, and market gardens well into the 20th century. Historical records show dairy cattle still grazed here as late as 1958. The suburb was also the site of Sydney’s first quarry, with sandstone blocks from here helping construct many of Sydney’s earliest buildings.
Today, Cammeray is renowned for its beautiful green spaces including Tunks Park and Primrose Park, perfect for leisurely strolls or brisk jogs along the Primrose Park Walking Track. Golf enthusiasts can enjoy the historic Cammeray Golf Club, established in 1906 and one of NSW’s oldest golf clubs, featuring an immaculate 9-hole, par 66 course in a naturally rich setting.
